Concrete Installation

While paver installation is a popular choice, concrete offers its own unique set of benefits and is often the preferred option in specific cases:

Perks
  • For expansive areas such as driveways, parking lots, or expansive patios, concrete installation is often more cost-effective than paver installation. Concrete can be poured in larger sections, reducing labor and material costs compared to individually laying pavers.
  • Concrete is renowned for its exceptional durability and long lifespan. It can withstand heavy loads, resist cracking, and endure harsh weather conditions better than some paver materials. This makes concrete a suitable choice for high-traffic areas or regions with extreme climates.
  • Concrete requires minimal maintenance, making it an attractive option for homeowners or property owners seeking hassle-free outdoor surfaces.
  • When time is a crucial factor, concrete installation offers a quicker process compared to laying individual pavers. Concrete can be poured, leveled, and cured relatively faster, allowing you to enjoy your new outdoor space sooner.
Natural stone installation

Natural stone installation is an excellent choice for a variety of outdoor applications, offering a touch of elegance and natural beauty. At EHD Builders, we specialize in natural stone installation for the following areas: Patios and Terraces, walkways and pathways, retaining walls, pool decks and coping, garden features, outdoor fireplaces and fire pits, entryways and steps.
When compared to paver installation and concrete installation, natural stone is often the preferred choice in the following cases:

Perks
  • Aesthetic Elegance: Natural stone exudes a sense of luxury and sophistication that is unmatched by other materials.
  • Seamless Integration with Nature: Natural stone seamlessly blends with the surrounding environment, creating a harmonious connection between your outdoor space and nature.
  • Durability and Longevity: Natural stone is renowned for its exceptional durability and longevity. It can withstand heavy foot traffic, resist weathering, and maintain its beauty over time.
  • Unique and Customized Designs: Natural stone offers unparalleled design versatility. With a wide range of stone types, shapes, sizes, and finishes available, you can create intricate patterns, captivating mosaics, or custom designs that reflect your personal style and preferences.
  • Increased Property Value: Natural stone installations have the potential to significantly enhance the value of your property.

FAQ

What is the overall process for the hardscape project?

The overall process for a hardscape project typically involves several key steps. First, we start with an initial consultation to understand your vision, goals, and requirements. Then, we proceed to the design phase where we create detailed plans and layouts for the hardscape features. Once the design is approved, we move on to the preparation phase which includes site excavation, grading, and any necessary groundwork. The next step is the installation phase where we construct the hardscape elements such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, or other desired features using the chosen materials. Finally, we complete the project with finishing touches, including cleaning up the site and ensuring everything is in place.

What is the estimated timeline for completion?

The estimated timeline for a hardscape installation project can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. Generally, smaller hardscape projects can be completed within a few weeks to a couple of months. Larger or more intricate projects may take several months to complete.

What permits or approvals are required for the project?

The permits or approvals required for a hardscape project can vary depending on your location, local regulations, and the specific scope of your project. Here are some common permits that may be required:

Building permits: These are typically required for larger hardscape projects that involve structural elements such as retaining walls, outdoor structures, or significant modifications to the landscape.

Zoning or land use permits: These permits ensure that your hardscape project complies with local zoning regulations and land use restrictions. They may address factors such as setbacks, height restrictions, or maximum coverage.

Environmental permits: If your hardscape project involves significant excavation or changes to the natural drainage patterns, you may need permits related to environmental impact, erosion control, or stormwater management.

Utility permits: If your project requires any excavation or installation near underground utilities such as gas, water, or electrical lines, you may need permits or approvals from the respective utility companies.
